Thieves with fake number plates ran out of luck!
Three men were arrested while driving vehicle with fake number plates.

Three suspects who were driving a vehicle with mismatched number plates ran out of lucky as thy were busted by City of Cape Town’s Law Enforcement officials. The incident happened on Tuesday 30 May.

According to Mayco Member of Safety and Security Jean-Pierre Smith officers on patrol noticed a vehicle with mismatched license plates and attempted to stop the car. The driver refused to stop and he sped off. The chase ensured and the car ended up crashing into a property in Vredehoek.

The three suspects attempted to flee on foot but could not outpace the officers. Several suspected stolen items were found inside the vehicle, including golf clubs, a flat-screen TV, and wine.

The suspects were taken into custody at Cape Town Central SAPS on charges that ranged from possession of suspected stolen property to fraud, and reckless and negligent driving. Smith said in response to the persistent issue of crime in the city, the City of Cape Town introduced a dedicated Law Enforcement unit in the CBD. Plans are also underway to implement similar initiatives in the Bellville and Wynberg CBD hubs.
