Security company owner ordered Loyiso Nkohla-Mabandla’s hit, the court heard. This was disclosed by the state during the first appearance of the suspected killer Zukisa Tshabile(38) at Athlone Magistrate’s Court. The court heard that Tshabile, together with other suspects were hired by a security company.
Athlone Magistrates Court Keith la Keur heard the case briefly and postponed the matter to 06 November for bail information. National Prosecuting Authority spokesman in Western Cape Eric Ntabazali said the state have linked the suspect to the murder.
“The State alleges that the accused is linked to another suspect who owns a security company who hired the accused before court and others to kill Nkohla. The accused is linked to the suspect mentioned above through cellphone and bank records.
“His case has been postponed until 6 November 2023 for bail information. If the accused applies for bail, the State will oppose the Schedule 6 bail application. The court also heard that the accused has a pending matter,” said Ntabazalila.

Loyiso’s widow Nyameka Mabandla was in court together with other family members. She pleaded with the police to continue hunting more killers and bring them to book.
“I am pleading to him to co-operate with law enforcement agencies with the truth about the mastermind who sent him and others who are yet to be arrested. I learnt with shock and pain that killers were contracted and paid to kill my husband in the most brutal and vicious manner,” said Nyameka.
Loyiso’s close comrades including Andile Lili attended the court.
