The woman whose body was discovered in a toilet in Samora Machel,Cape Town on Friday, March 22nd, has has been identified. The woman has been recognized as Buyiswa Jacobs, a 51-year-old mother of six children.
Ezitshisayo managed to trace the family of the deceased who reside approximately two kilometers away from where her lifeless body was found. Buyiswa was described by her family as a responsible and dedicated individual who didn’t drink alcohol. She was actively involved in her community, serving as a patroller and would not leave her home without reason. Her sudden disappearance has left her family devastated and searching for answers.
Buyiswa’s sister, Phumla Sam said she last saw her on Thursday evening following her return from a service delivery protest organized by the ANC in Cape Town. The family suspects foul play, saying that she could have been lured away by someone she knew. Phumla believes someone whom she knew called her outside and she walked the person halfway and on her return that’s when she met her attacker.
Residents and family members alike are still shocked by the circumstances surrounding Buyiswa’s. More questions are being asked on how she ended up in a toilet within a well-fenced property.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a spokesperson for the police in Western Cape, confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened to investigate the incident further. He urged anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death,” stated Sergeant Twigg. “We encourage anyone with any information about this incident to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
