Police in KwaZulu Natal has arrested a 35-year-old officer attached to the k9 unit in Newcastle for reckless driving.
The driver was arrested on 13 January after his video went viral whereby he was seen driving in a reckless manner. He was on his way from Durban where he had gone to fetch his dog from a veterinary and he was on his way to Newcastle when he was caught on camera.
The driver was later involved in an accident and collided with another motorist. After the incident, he was taken to hospital and later detained at Mountain Rise SAPS.
Besides criminal charges, police management has also taken disciplinary measures against the member.
KZN police commission General Nhlanhla Mkhwananzi condemned the officers actions.
