Khayelitsha cops are hunting for killers who shot three men in Khayelitsha on Saturday 17 December.
This is after three people were shot and killed on the corners of Idada and Nyebelele Streets Site C. The incident happened around 09:15 pm on Saturday.
SAPS spokesman Andre Traut said they are looking for anyone with information to assist them.
“Any person with information that can assist to bring us closer to those responsible for the incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” he said. He said people can also use the mobile application, My SAPS.
“Information will be treated confidentially,” he said.
Police said two bodies were found next to a taxi with gunshot wounds. The other body was found inside a taxi.
Traut said: “According to reports, four unknown gunmen opened fire at the victims in what we believe is related to the taxi industry. The bystander who sustained a gunshot wound was admitted to hospital for treatment.”
Police Oversight and Community Safety Reagen Allen said an innocent bystander was hospitalised.
“The injured person has been admitted to a medical facility, and I wish them a speedy recovery,” he said.
The MEC suspects taxi that the shooting is taxi-related. This is because the shooting seemed to be directed at the taximen.
“This is yet another disturbing incident, particularly since just a few days ago, three other people were also brutally killed in Bishop Lavis,” said Allen.
