Residents from Kosovo informal settlement in Samora Machel are left reeling in shock and fear after three people were shot dead. The victims were shot dead in their shack at Kosovo informal settlement on Saturday 27 May in the evening.
The victims, woman(43), her three-year-old child, and a 38-year-old man, were sitting inside their home when an unknown man knocked on their door, asking for the owner of the shack. The occupants informed him that the owner was not at home and the man left. But minutes later, another man entered the shack and began shooting at the people inside, killing all three on the scene. The suspects are still at large and the motive for the brutal attack is yet to be established.
Local residents are in shock and have complained that their kasi is ruled by gunmen. Police spokesman Colonel Andre Traut confirmed the incident.
“Samora Machel police are seeking the assistance of the public for information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect or suspects who are responsible for the death of three people in Cossovo on Saturday evening (2023-05-27) at around 19:30. The motive for the triple murder is yet to be established,” said Traut.
He has called on the public to come forward with any information that might help to identify the culprits, who remain at large. Traut urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
