Law enforcement officer shot traffic cop after he found him at a lodge with his wife

A law enforcement cop has shot and killed his colleague after he found him in a lodge with his wife. The deceased man, a traffic cop was shot on Saturday 15 April at Kwanyoni Lodge in Nelspruit in Mpumalanga.

It is alleged that the two love birds, a traffic cop and the wife of his colleague booked a room at the lodge. The husband of the woman, a law enforcement official has been following them from a distance. When they entered inside their booked room, the angry husband kicked the door and a fight ensued.

The traffic cop managed to get a chance and ran out of the room to the gate but the husband who was armed with his official work firearm shot at him. The woman fortunately unharmed during the fight. The husband handed himself over to the police after the incident.

Hawks spokesperson in Mpumalanga Captain Dineo Sekgotobi said the arrested officer is 38 years old. About the incident, Sekgotobi said it happened 15km out of Nelspruit.

“On Saturday 15 April 2023 a provincial traffic officer and a lady friend booked in Kwanyoni lodge on the N4 about 15km out of Nelspruit. While they were in the chalet, the female’s husband emerged and kicked the door. There was an altercation as a broken bottle of beer was found. It is further alleged that the traffic official ran out of the challenges and the husband followed him as he fired shots. The victim was shot twice and succumbed to his injuries,” added Sekgotobi.

The firearm that was used to commit the crime was siezed by cops and the man was charged for murder.
