Residents from Xakabantu informal settlement in Vryground area, Muizenberg, Cape Town were shocked after they found a half-naked body of a woman dumped on the streets on Saturday, March 16th. The victim, whose identity remains unknown at this time, bore evident signs of violence.
Witnesses from the area said they saw stones stuffed inside her private areas. Her torn black tights were pulled down to her knees. Residents of the area believe that the woman was subjected to sexual assault before being brutally murdered. Emotions run high among the community members, with many expressing both shock and anger at the heinous crime.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg revealed said a murder investigation is underway following the discovery of the victim’s body. “Muizenberg police registered a murder case for investigation after the body of an unknown female was discovered in the Xakabantu informal settlement on Saturday morning,” stated Twigg. Describing the scene, he added, “Police members attended the crime scene where they found the victim partially undressed and with blood on her face.”
Despite the efforts of paramedics who declared the victim deceased at the scene, the circumstances surrounding her death remain shrouded in mystery. Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the crime, leaving the community grappling with fear and uncertainty.
In an appeal to the public for assistance, Sergeant Twigg urged anyone with information pertaining to the incident to come forward. “The suspect/s are yet to be arrested. Anyone with any information about this incident can contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” he emphasized.
