Delft man stabbed with okapi after argument

A Delft man stabbed several times and killed allegedly by his friend earlier today.
Sinethemba Sokoyi(24) went to the house of the accused earlier today in the company of his other friend.

While at the house,Sinethemba and the accused had an argument. The deceased and the other friend he had went with to the house walked out but the suspect followed them. It is alleged that the friend pulled an okapi from his pocket and chased and stabbed several times on his chest.

When Ezitshisayo arrived at the scene, residents were gathered outside the house where he was stabbed at.
Vivian Sokoyi the mother of the murded man was at the scene in Tinqua street in Leiden. She however couldn’t speak much to our reporter.

“I was woken up at past 2am by someone who said my son has been stabbed. I was shocked and I’m still shocked by this incident,” she said.

Police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed the incident.

“Delft police has opened a murder docket for further investigation following the incident at about 04:00 earlier today, 22 December 2022, that claimed the life of a 24-year-old man. A suspect was apprehended and is due to appear in court on a charge of Murder, once charged,” said Pojie.

Pojie said their preliminary investigation suggest that the deceased , later identified as Sinathemba Sokoyi from Leiden Delft and a witness went to the residence of the suspect in Tanqua Street, Leiden Delft where an argument erupted into a fight.

“The deceased was stabbed multiple times in his upper body and succumbed on the scene due to the injuries sustained.The suspect who is in detention will appear in the local magistrates’ court once charged,” said Pojie.

Allegedly, the suspect kept stabbing Sinethemba even when he was bleeding on the lying on the road.
