Detectives from the Serious and Violent Crimes Unit in Cape Town have launched an manhunt following the murder of three in Mfuleni this this afternoon. The incident occurred at around 15:00 in the Fountain Heads area of New Beginnings, Mfuleni.
According to police spokesman Colonel Andre Traut, six armed individuals approached the victims, aged 29, 30, and 44, who were seated in their vehicle. The suspects opened fire fatally shooting all three victims at the scene. Following the attack, the suspects fled the area in a Toyota Avanza and remain at large.
Police is urging anyone with information relating to the circumstances surrounding the incident to come forward. Individuals who can shed light on the case or have any relevant information are encouraged to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
The motive behind the murders is yet to be established. The killings occurred while cops are still investigating two mass killings that happened in Gugulethu last week. The first incident happened on 25 September were five people men were shot saw a lawyer and a prison warder losing their lives. On Saturday 28 September, five people were also shot including Warrant Officer Lindela Mraqisa who worked as a protector of deputy minister of police Cassel Mathale.
