One person has been killed and many other injured in an accident involving three taxis and a truck.
The incident happened early today on N1 between Leeu Gamka and Prince Albert in Karoo area in Western Cape.
Jandre Bakker the Western Cape Traffic spokesman said they don’t have the updated number of the injured people. He added that the cause of the accident is not known as investigations are still underway.
“Preliminary reports state that one person has died in this crash, we’re still awaiting the report on the preliminary cause and the number of injuries, a stop-and- go is in place , but delays can be expected. We request road users to be patient.”

There was a lot of delays on the road as traffic were directed around the crash scene.
City of Cape Town is encouraging public transport owners to take their vehicles to be checked for roadworthness free of charge. The services are offered at Joe Gqabi Driving Licence Testing Centre and Bellville Traffic Department.
This is part of Operation Exodus that started from Monday, 12 December until Friday, 23 December 2022.
Mayco member for Safety and Security JP smith said the safety checks are free of charge.
“‘This is not a roadworthy certification, but merely a safety check to ensure passengers get to their destination safely.
“Drivers will not be penalised either for any defects that might be detected. The intention is to guide them on the path to compliance, peace of mind and the safety of their passengers,” he said.
