The woman who was recently murdered outside the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town was set to become a state witness in a murder case. Christine Gumera, who was facing a murder charge herself, was killed in a hit on 25 May.
It has been revealed that two men who appeared in court today sat in court during the woman’s court appearance on the day of her murder. It is alleged that the two men and phoned inkabi that was allegedly waiting outside and informed him what Gumera looked like and what she was wearing.
The woman was shot and killed in a brutal manner outside the court. A video that has gone viral on social media shows a man shooting two shots at Gumera at close range. The second shot hit a passing car, therefore, the two men are facing murder and attempted murder charges. The case has been postponed to 13 June.
According to police spokesman Lieutenant Malcolm Pojie, an integrated investigation team comprising detectives from the Provincial office and Wynberg detectives were able to trace the suspects’ whereabouts and apprehend them. He said,through thorough investigation and forensic evidence, the suspects, aged between 24 and 33, were positively linked to the murder. Police also seized a silver Nissan Tiïda and cellular phones that will be analysed.
