Police have arrested a 47-year-old woman from Wolseley in the Breede River Valley area. Police received a tip off about drugs at an address on Madini Street in Pinevalley.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi said officers proceeded to the house. On arrival, they searched the premises and could not find anything. They decided to search in the garden and found a huge consignment of mandrax tablets. The incident happened on Saturday 18 March 2023.
“Upon arrival at the identified address, they ensued with a search of the house and the occupants and further proceed to search the yard, where they found 24 700 mandrax tablets packaged and hidden in the garden. They subsequently arrested a 46-year-old female and detained her on a charge of dealing in drugs,” said Swartbooi.
In a separate incident,Piketberg cops arrested four men with 2003 mandrax pills. The men were arrested at a roadblock on N7 highway. According to Swartbooi police were busy with checkpoint operations when they saw a suspicious vehicle and stopped it. When they searched it, they found mandrax tablets and methamphetamine worth R300 000 on the streets.
“Four suspects were arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs,” said Swartbooi. He added that the suspects will appear in Piketberg Magistrate’s Court on a charge of dealing in drugs.
