A Khayelitsha man is on the run after he allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend and locked the body inside their shack. The body was found on Friday 12 April inside the locked shack in Monwabisi Park area, close to Endlovini.
According to residents, the man who is on the run was last seen on Wednesday 10 April, fixing the roof of his shack that was blown away by heavy winds. The girlfriend, Sive Menziwa(37) was last seen the same day. Promise Mhlululu, a workmate of the alleged killer said they were supposed to go to work together but when he went to his house on Thursday morning he didn’t open the door.
He left him but when he failed to open the door again on Friday 12, he became suspicious. “I called neighbours and we broke the window of the couple’s shack. To our surprise we saw the body of the woman lying on the floor in a pool of blood,” said Promise.
They called the deceased’s aunt Liza Lise who was at work at the time and she came back. They opened the shack and found out that Sive had died and she had stab wounds on her face and chest. Her body was in a pool of blood. Lise said the man was abusing her niece for a long time and she wanted out of the relationship.
“She wanted to leave but this evil man killed him before she could walk away. My niece was once married but when she separated with the husband that is when she met this evil man, and they have one child together. Why did he kill Sive? Why why,” said the heartbroken aunt.
When Ezitshisayo Team entered the house, the floor was still soaked with blood. A loaf of bread was on the ground and R30 money was also on the ground. It appeared as if Sive was attacked as she entered the house on her return from the shop.
The boyfriend has since disappeared, and cops are after him. Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed the incident. “This office can confirm that Harare police are investigating a murder case. According to reports the deceased was found dead at her house at Endlovini. No arrest yet, investigations continue,” said Van Wyk.
