Residents from Beacon Valley in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town are shock after they discovered a headless body in their streets last night. The body of unknown was found on corner Greyville and Metropolitan Street around 9pm.

According to a resident Angela Mnyaka who spoke to Ezitshisayo, the body was headless, and the head was inside a gift bag that was placed on top of the body. “It was a scary situation; the body was in the middle of road. We still don’t know what happened. We are also not sure if the deceased or he was just dumped there,” said Mnyaka.

Another resident Jermaine Swartbooi who lives in the area said they are in shock. “Nobody was brave enough to examine the head to identify whether the person is from the area. We still don’t know if this has to do with gangsters or the person was dumped here from another place. Gangsters fight in our area but we have not experienced this,” he said.

Police in Mitchell’s Plain area have registered a murder case as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the incident. “Mitchell’s Plain police registered a murder case for investigation of the body of a unknown man was found on the corner of Greyville and Metropolitan Streets, Beacon Valley, Mitchell’s Plain on Monday evening (2023-10-02) at about 21:05.
“Police members attended to the crime scene where they found the victim with his head decapitated. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,” said Twigg.
