Cape Town police are investigating a series of deadly shootings that occurred on Wednesday 31 May in Manenberg. The incidents happened in quick succession, leaving four young men dead and two others injured.

According to Manenberg police, the first shooting took place around 7 pm, when two vehicles with unknown assailants opened fire on three men who were standing on the corner of Jordan and Silver Stream Roads. The 18-year-old victim lost his life, while two other men, aged 41 and 48, were injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The second shooting happened just ten minutes later, when four suspects driving an unknown white vehicle fired several shots at three male victims standing on the corner of Klipfontein and Jupiter Roads in Surrey Estate. Sadly, all three victims, aged 19, 20, and 28, died from their injuries.

Police spokesman Colonel Andre Traut said that detectives are searching for clues to establish a motive and apprehend those responsible for the murders. “Both incidents are still under investigation as the suspects in both cases fled and are yet to be apprehended,” said Traut.

He urged the public to come forward with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects. “We urge anyone with information to notify the Crime Stop hotline on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application My SAPS,” he added.

The recent spate of violence in Cape Town has left many fearful and wondering when the senseless killings will come to an end. Last weekend three people including a three year old child were shot inside their shack in Samora Machel.
