One of the three men arrested in connection with the killing Loyiso Nkohla-Mabandla wants to be free on bail, a move that has annoyed his wife. Nyameka Mabandla attended the court case when the two men appeared in Athlone Magistrates Court on Tuesday 16 July in the morning.
Suspect number 3 Mzubanzi Chulayo told the court that he wants to apply bail although he had abandoned after his arrest last year. Chulayo’s bail application has been set to take place on Tuesday 23 July.
Nyameka said the actions of the accused is meant to frustrate her, but she will not give up. Accused 1 Zukisa Tshabile and accused 2 Mziyanda Mdlungu also abandoned bail last year and have not shown interest to apply bail.
The widow of the late activist Loyiso Nkohla-Mabandla says she is fade up by the endless postponements of the murder case proceedings of her husband. She said this when suspects appeared in Athlone Magistrates Court on Tuesday 16 July in the morning. 
“I’m tired and exhausted about this, every time we come here it is postponements and suspects are playing games. They are trying to find loopholes within the law, it is really exhausting because I really want to see justice to be finally served for my husband. This won’t deter us; we keep coming here up until they are finally brought to book. The other thing is the suspect that is still roaming on our streets,” said Nyameka.
Yandisa Mkhwambi was supporting Nyameka together with Mlungiseleli Dayeni also want to see the case moving forward. “We cannot remain in a circle. We want this case to be finalized and those who are found guilty must rot in jail,” said Mkhwambi.
The case has been postponed to 23 July for Chulayo’s bail application. Police are still looking for another suspect Mpumelelo Shumane who is also known as Mancane. His last known location is Ramamphosa informal settlement in Philippi, Cape Town.
