A school girl who went missing on Friday was found in mud.

A girl from Blue Downs who went missing on Friday 09 February has been found dead. The body of the 11-year-old grade 4 learner from Spurwing Primary School was found on the following day Saturday 10 February in a canal covered in mud at Ithemba Farms area.

The family of the missing girl only opened a missing person case on Sunday 11 February after the body was discovered on the previous day. According to a family member, the girl Monneashia Prins came back from school and started playing with her sister. She later went to a neighbour’s home but when they realised that she wasn’t coming back home, they went to check by the neighbour’s home.

To their surprise, the girl wasn’t there, and neighbours told them that she had left with her uncle. Family member Tamikua Whittey Humphreys posted on social media narrating how the girl went missing also calling for residents to help. “Moneshia Prins named at Mona is missing since Friday night, we have been looking for her since Friday. Apparently, she walked with her so called uncle the people say but she doesn’t have an uncle that lives here nearby us,” said Humphreys.

The girl’s school Spurwing Primary School also posted on the school’s social media pages calling abahlali to help. “We are appealing to the community to please be on the lookout for our learner, Monneashia Prins. Any information is welcome,” the message read.
