Nyameka Mabandla, the widow to a Loyiso Nkohla-Mabandla a well-known activist is not happy. This is after the three men accused of murdering her husband indicated that they are going apply for a bail.
Mziyanda Mdlungu(38), Zukisa Tshabile(38) and Mzubanzi Chulayo(41) appeared in Athlone Magistrate’s court on Thursday 15 February. During their appearance, Chulayo and Mdlungu indicated that they want to apply for a bail. The other suspect Tshabile abandoned his bail applicatio on 11 November 2023. “I don’t understand why criminals feel like in this country feel like it’s okay to kill and after that waste the court’s time applying for bail,” said Nyameka.
The court has given Monday 04 March as the return day for Chulayo and Mdlungu to apply for bail. Nyameka said the two should have followed the example set by Tshabile who didn’t “waste the court’s time” by applying a bail.
Nyameka vowed to mobilise members of the community to ensure that the two men will not get bail. She said if ever they are to get a bail, she will make sure that they will not enjoy their freedom because the people who loved Loyiso will stand up. The state has indicated that they will be opposing bail when Chulayo and Mdlungu apply next month.
Nyameka believes that in Mzansi criminals have more rights than law abiding citizens.
