Khayelitsha woman has been arrested after she was caught with 400 bags of Tik on Saturday. The woman was arrested on Bonkolo Street, a few minutes after another man was arrested with 481 bags of the same drug.
According to Mayco member for Safety and Security Jean-Pierre Smith, the two were arrested by Law Enforcement officers. The officers were marching on the street when they saw a man carrying a purple bag. When he saw officers he threw the bag over a wall.
“As they were marching Bonkolo Street, they came across a male suspect who tried to discard a purple rucksack over a wall. When they retrieved the bag, inside was 481 bags of Tik. Almost at the very exact time, another group of LEAP officers were marching in the very same street, when they arrested a female, this time carrying 400 bags of Tik,” said Smith.
Meanwhile on Sunday, 12 March Metro Police Special Operations Unit acted on the information about two premises storing drugs in the Philippi area. Officers searched and recovered 72 Unga straws, 88 packets of Tik, and 21 whole and 14 half Mandrax tablets.
“A man and a woman, aged 36 and 44 were arrested for the possession of drugs, and detained at Philippi SAPS,” said Smith.
