A police Captain who was killed in Khayelitsha on Saturday night was stabbed by a male nurse from Khayelitsha District Hospital.

He was allegedly stabbed after an argument over parking space at the popular eParkini chilling spot on Spine Road near Lookout Hill.

It is alleged that officer Captain Suphumeza Lusasa(37) who was attached to Muizenberg SAPS was on standby at the time of the murder. It is alleged that the nurse and the now-deceased cop had a heated argument with the girlfriend of his killer over a parking space at the ever-busy parking lots.

The deceased had an argument with the girlfriend of the nurse. The nurse allegedly intervened and argued with the officer before taking out his knife and stabbing him in the chest.

Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani said the officer was on standby duties at the time of the incident.

“It is reported that Captain Lusasa was on standby duties at the time of the incident. It is alleged that the officer was involved in an argument with a lady where the suspect who is the boyfriend of the lady attacked the officer and stabbed him multiple times.
 
“A member of the public who was on the scene, transported the officer to Khayelitsha hospital where he was unfortunately declared dead on arrival,” said Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani.

The suspect has since handed himself to Lingelethu West police station after he had disappeared from the scene after the incident. He will appear in court on 24 January on the charges of murder.
