Khayelitsha residents woke up to a body of a man in Zwelitsha area on Friday 10 January 2025. Residents from the area said they heard some gunshots but didn’t know what was happening.
It was only when they woke up earlier today when the found the body of a man near the corners of Baden Powell and Mew Way Road. The 56-year-old man had a bullet wound on his head.
“I was going to work when I saw the body. He was wearing clothes that looked like a security guard. I don’t know what exactly happened to him, but he had a bullet wound on his head,” said a resident who didn’t want to be named.
Another person from the area said her house was broken into and the thieves stole her belongings. She suspects that these killers are the people who broke into her house.
Police spokesman Warrant Officer Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the incident.
“Harare police members were busy with patrols in the early hours of Friday 10 January 2025 when they responded to a complaint. Upon their arrival at the Crime Scene in Zwelitsha at around 04:30, when they found the body of a man who sustained a gunshot wound to his head.
“The victim, aged 56, was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. The unknown suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested. The motive for this attack is yet to be determined. Harare police are investigating a murder,” said Swartbooi.
