Cops in Steenberg area in Cape Town have caught three people who were stealing from spaza shop in the area earlier on Tuesday 16 January 2024. Officers from the Steenberg Crime Prevention Unit were patrolling when the discovered that the spaza shop’s roof was removed.
To their surprise they found three men and a woman caught inside the shop stealing some groceries and other things.
“The members were busy with crime prevention patrols when they noticed a hole in the roof of the shop. They went to investigate and caught the suspects in the shop and recovered the stolen property,” said Twigg.
By the time police arrested the thieves, they already had taken chips and cigarettes from the shop. People from the area said the break-in into the shop has been going on for a long time. The spaza owner secured his shop but now thieves have changed their strategy, using the roof.
Twigg said the suspects will appear in Wynberg Magistrate’s court as soon they are charged.
