Two security guards have been shot and injured in the Samora Machel, in Cape Town. The incident happened in Kosovo, A section this evening 06 August.

According to an eyewitness that spoke to Ezitshisayo, two security guards went into the area looking for a stolen car. It is believed that they tracked the vehicle and found at A section in Kosovo.

They didn’t take the vehicle but instead called for backup but while they were still waiting, it was when they got attacked. “One young man pretended to be walking by the vehicle where the security guards were but he quickly fired shots at the two men. One of the security guys managed to run away but the other one was shot and fell on the ground.

“Two other men came running and took away the guns before disappearing,” said a resident.

At the time the police arrived at the scene, the security guard was still alive but bleeding heavily. “He could have died if police officers didnt arrive on time,” said the source.

Police spokesman Captain Frederick Van Wyk confirmed the incident.

“Crime scene experts are currently on the scene combining the area for clues, following a shooting incident earlier tonight (Tuesday, 2024-08-06). Two employees of a security company were shot and wounded in Samora Machel, both were transported to hospital, SAPS at the scene.

“Two counts of attempted murder were registered for investigation. Anyone with information about this shooting incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” said Van Wyk.
