Taxi Driver Killed and Two Injured in Limpopo Shooting; Manhunt Underway
Toyota Hiace driver was shot and killed in Limpopo on Saturday.

A shooting on Saturday, 17 August 2024, in Magatle, Capricorn district, resulted in the death of a taxi driver and left two others injured. The attack occurred around 5:45pm when a white Toyota Hiace taxi, carrying 15 passengers, was targeted by the occupants of a white Audi.

The 42-year-old taxi driver was killed instantly, while a female passenger was slightly injured by shattered glass. Two male passengers sustained serious injuries; one, aged 49, later died in the hospital.

According to reports, the Audi, whose registration numbers are unknown, followed the taxi and opened fire with a rifle and a 9mm pistol. After the shooting, the Audi fled the scene towards Groothoek.

Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo, has launched a manhunt for the assailants. “We condemn this senseless attack and appeal to the community to provide any information that could help us find those responsible,” Hadebe said.
