Residents from Lwandle, Strand in Cape Town were left shocked after a police officer was found dead on their streets on Christmas day.
He had nine bullet wounds and stab wounds on his body and his service firearm missing. The 33-year-old Constable was attached at Lingelethu West SAPS in Khayelitsha.
Police have arrested an injured suspect from Lwandle whom they are still questioning in connection with the incident.
Police spokeswoman Brigadier Novella Potelwa confirmed the incident which she said has left other officers shocked.

“Police are questioning an injured man from Lwandle while Lingelethu West police are still reeling from shock following the discovery of the body of their colleague in Lwandle on Sunday morning,” she said.
The deceased officer had spent all night on duty at the time of his murder.
Residents from the area are shocked by the gruesome murder. They said they heard gunshots at midnight but they didn’t go out to check.
It was only in the morning that they heard about the murder of the cop.
“His official firearm was taken and the state vehicle he was driving was found some metres from the body. The circumstances surrounding the horrific discovery are under investigation and robbery as a motive for the murder cannot be ruled out at this stage of the investigation,” Potelwa added.
She added that Hawks detectives have taken over the murder docket for further investigations with several leads currently being pursued.
