Metro police and SAPS have busted a huge consignment in Airport Industria earlier today. Several boxes of cocaine were hidden in the middle of poultry boxes in a container.
Cops responded to the scene after recieving information about a suspicious container at a certain premises. Cops went to the scene with sniffer dog Khalesi uncovered the drugs.
Police spokeswoman Ruth Solomons said the incident happened around 11:45.
“Metro Police K9 Khalesi assisted SAPS in uncovering a large drug consignment in Airport Industria today. At around 11:45, SAPS requested assistance from Metro Police, after receiving information of drugs at a premises in the area.
On their arrival, they were informed that a container, filled with poultry boxes, looked suspicious. After inspecting the container, Metro Police K9 members were activated and K9 Khalesi gave a positive indication of the presence of drugs (Cocaine),” said Solomons.
The scene was handed over to SAPS Crime Intelligence, the Provincial Hawks and SARS Customs for further investigations. The quantity, and estimated street value of the drugs has yet to be determined
