Two men were shot and injured during a break-in on Tuesday 13 August night in Richmond Hill, Gqeberha, Eastern Cape.
At around 8:40 PM on Lutman Street, a 73-year-old man was asleep when he heard a noise and woke up. He grabbed his gun and went to check. He saw three men in his house coming toward him, so he shot at them. Two of the men were hit and the third ran away. Thanks to a quick response from a private security company and Metro police, the two injured men, aged 31 and 37, were caught.
Police spokesperson Capt. Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said the two suspects are in the hospital under police guard, receiving treatment for their injuries. The SAPS Humewood is investigating the case for housebreaking and attempted murder.
South Africans are fighting for themselves as the crime levels in the country have been on the increase. In Cape Town, a courrier driver shot and killed two men in Montclair area after they robbed him of his belongings. The driver shot and injured two other suspects during the incident.
