The Mayco Member for Safety and Security in the City of Cape Town Jean-Pierre ‘JP’ Smith has applauded law enforcement for a saving a life.
This is after after they arrested a man who was on his way to murder someone.The incident happened on Sunday 14 July 2024 at night. According to Smith, law enforcement officials were patrolling in New Crossroads at night when they saw a suspicious looking man. They decided to stop and search him, and their suspicions were confirmed when they found him with a gun.
“Upon searching him, they found an unlicensed firearm and 14 rounds of ammunition. The suspect was arrested and confessed he was on his way to eliminate his target,” Smith said. Smith applauded the law enforcement for “saving a life”.
He said the LEAP officers were introduced to address the shortage of police and it has proved effective.
