Makhulu Sindiwe Ngqaza(82) who was attacked by her grandson told the court that if he is granted bail, he will kill her. Luvo appeared in Kuilsriver Magistrates Court on Friday morning where he applied for bail.
Gogo testified saying that Luvo must not be granted bail because if he gets the bail, he may go to her place and kill her. “He must not get bail, if he gets my life will be in danger. He may come from wherever place he will be living and kill me. I will only be safe when he is behind bars,” said gogo Sindiswa.
Gogo Sindiwe was beaten up by Luvo on 14 June and when she woke up the following day, her left side was paralysed body. Gogo said she wanted to open a case against Luvo but she was sick so she couldn’t go to the police station.
An Investigative Officer who testified said Luvo was not only a danger to his victim but also a danger unto himself. This is because he threatened to commit suicide and members of the public want to “deal with him” if released on bail.
On the other hand, Luvo through an affidavit said he wants to be granted bail so that he can go to school. Through his lawyer, Luvo said it was difficult for him to prepare for his matric exams from behind bars. He provided the court with the address of her sister where he would be staying if the court released him on bail.
The Economic Freedom Fighters regional secretary Banzi Dambuza was also at court where he said Luvo must not get bail. He said in case he gets bail, as EFF they have taken it upon themselves to protect makhulu.
