A taxi driver was arrested for drunken driving on Monday morning.

Police in Cape Town is investigating cases of murder after four bodies were found shot in Driftsands near Mfuleni.

According to police, several gunshots were heard around 11 pm on Wednesday night and people saw a car driving away. It was this morning when the bodies were discovered.

Mfuleni police as well as crime scene experts are still scouring a crime scene in Driftsands where four people were shot and killed on Wednesday evening.

Police spokeswoman Brigadier Novela Potelwa confirmed the incident. She said the police is still on the scene.

“Reports from the area indicate that a vehicle had entered the COVID-19 informal settlement at about 23:00 last night. Shortly thereafter gunshots were heard and the vehicle left the area.

“On Thursday morning, residents of the informal settlement discovered two bodies of a man and a woman with gunshot wounds in a shack and alerted the police. A few meters from the one dwelling, inside another shack two more bodies of a man and a woman were also found with gunshot wounds,” said Potelwa.

Potelwa said the identities of the victims are yet to be determined with provincial serious violent crime detectives hard at work probing the murders as well as the motive.

“Police urge anyone with information on the murders that could assist the police investigations to contact police on 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS App,” said Potelwa.
