Cape Town man sets dogs on Police
A Cape Town man was arrested after setting his Pitbulls on Police on Saturday.

A Cape Town man has landed in serious trouble after encouraging his dogs to attack police officers during a raid. This incident happened in Delft, Cape Town when officers from the Anti-Gang Unit, were conducting a raid in the area on Saturday, 18 January 2025.

Acting on a tip-off about a firearm at a specific location, officers searched a property on Crusader Street in Delft. They found 100 rounds of 7.62 calibre ammunition hidden in a cupboard and arrested a 37-year-old man for illegal possession of ammunition.

Their investigation led them to another house on Coronado Street. When the officers arrived, the homeowner incited his three Pitbull dogs to attack them. To protect themselves from the aggressive dogs, the officers had to fire rubber bullets. The man was arrested for inciting the attack.

A search at the man’s house uncovered a Taurus pistol, nine rounds of .45 calibre ammunition, ten mandrax tablets, and a sachet of tik. The 21-year-old homeowner now faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as drug possession.

Both suspects are expected to appear in Bellville Magistrates’ Court once formal charges are filed.
