Cape Town principal shot outside school
Police are investigating following the shooting of a principal in Cape Town today.

Police in Cape Town are investigating the murder of a principal outside Ekuthuleni Primary School in Kraaifontein earlier today.

Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred as pupils and staff were arriving at the school. The principal and a colleague were driving into the premises when three men approached their car and opened fire. The 54-year-old headteacher was killed at the scene, while the female teacher in the car was taken to hospital with injuries.

“Children and parents ran for cover as bullets were flying at the school gate. It was terrifying, and we were lucky to escape unharmed because we were so close to the incident. I had to take my child home because she was crying and deeply traumatised,” said a parent.

Police spokesman Captain Frederick C. van Wyk stated that officers are actively investigating at the scene.
