A taxi overturned on N2 close to the Cape Town International Airport earlier this morning Friday 10 January. The taxi which was fully loaded was heading towards Cape Town CBD carrying passengers who were on their way to work. Eyewitnesses say the accident “looked bad”.
An Ezitshisayo source said the situation was not looking good. “It looks like the taxi overturned and landed on its side. There were cries and screams for help at the time we passed by. If there are no fatalities, there are serious injuries. It did not look good, but we hope there are no fatalities. The taxi has a CODETA sticker. It looks like it was coming from Khayelitsha,” said our source.
City of Cape Town Traffic Police spokesman Kevin Jacobs confirmed that the officers are busy at the scene.
“Cape Town Traffic Service is attending to an accident scene on the N2 inbound before Airport Approach Road, where one minibus taxi overturned. The bus lane and the centre lane is obstructed. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution,” said Jacobs.
