A Khayelitsha Constable arrested after he was caught with drugs and illegal firearm.

Cops raided Khayelitsha cops home and found him with ecstacy and illegal firearm. This happened after they recieved a tipoff that the cop was involved in drug dealing and other criminal activities.

The Khayelitsha Tactical Response Team (TRT) raided the home on Wednesday 09 October early in the morning and discovered drugs, illegal firearm and ammunition. TRT members acted on information and targeted a residence in Mandela Park on Kumande Bali Street at 06:10. During the search, they confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition and six ecstasy tablets, leading to the constable’s detention.

The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Thembisile Patekile, praised the Khayelitsha Tactical Response Team (TRT) for their swift action in arresting a 38-year-old constable. The officer, stationed at the Maitland 10111 Call Centre, was found with a prohibited firearm, ammunition, and drugs.

Patekile emphasized that those who break the law have no place in the South African Police Service.

The arrest followed an intelligence-driven operation on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

The suspect will face charges and is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court soon.

This incident comes as other officers face court today for allegedly extorting R28,000 from Chinese shop owners in Milnerton over the weekend.
