Vovo came back from police station with a heavy heart

Vovo not happy with police
Vovo claims that police told her to go and find a person who stole her phone.

When she went to the police station, Vovo thought her problem was going to be solved. But instead, she went back home with a heavy heart.

Vuyokazi “Vovo” Nguqu is not happy about what police asked her to do after someone stole her phone inside her house last month. Allegedly, Vovo was sitting with friends and her boyfriend at her house in Eestrivier in Cape Town on Saturday 06 July when her phone went missing.

Vovo said she went out of the house and left her phone inside but when she came back her phone was nowhere to be found. When she asked people in the house, nobody gave her convincing answers. Everyone denied seeing her phone and she was left with no option but to go to the police.

Vovo’s plan was to open a case and allow police to question people who were in the house when her phone went missing. Instead, when she arrived at Kleinvlei police station, officers gave Vovo a shocking answer.

The allegedly told her to “go find the suspect” and then call police when she finds the thief. Vovo was left angry because she thinks police failed to do their job and expected her to do what they are paid for to do. Vovo said even though officers could have thought that her story is petty, they should not have asked her to go and look for a thief herself.

Police spokeswoman in Cape Town Anelisiwe Manyana confirmed that Vovo opened a case of theft. She said the case is still under investigation.

“We can confirm that Kleinvlei police registered a case of theft for investigation following an incident on 6 July 2024 at Forcado Street, Forest Village, Kleinvlei. No one was arrested, investigations are continuing,” Manyana said.
