Police in Western Cape are investigating after four people died after drinking some wine at a wine estate in Stellenbosch last week. It is alleged that seven people drank the wine on the 26th of July and they developed some sickness.
On the following day on 27 July, a 63-year-old woman died while she was admitted at the hospital. On the 28 of July, a 41-year-old man who drank the same wine also died. Three days later, on 31 July, two females, a 43-year-old and a 15 girl died while they were in hospital.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said they are investigating the incident.
“Two other victims were discharged from hospital and another victim did not need medical assistance. Post-mortems will be conducted to determine the causes of death. The circumstances surrounding the incident is subject of an investigation by the South African Police Service.
